El Pastor is a small family of Mexican restaurants in London, inspired by the decade our founders, Sam Hart and Crispin Somerville, spent in Mexico City running the legendary nightclub El Colmillo.
Named after the mighty taco al pastor – Mexico City’s most beloved street food – our restaurants celebrate the bold and joyful flavours of Mexico. The al pastor taco is itself a symbol of the city: introduced by Lebanese immigrants who brought the shawarma tradition to Mexico, reimagined with pork, a marinade of chilies, achiote and spices, and cooked on the iconic trompo. Today it is a cultural staple, representing Mexico City’s flair for fusion, innovation and social street-side dining.

At the heart of what we do is the tortilla: the cornerstone of Mexican cooking and a thread through its history and folklore. We make ours fresh daily in-house from heirloom Mexican corn, sourced through TAMOA, a pioneering initiative protecting Mexico’s biodiversity and food heritage.
You’ll find our restaurants in Borough Market, Soho, Coal Drops Yard and Battersea Power Station, each serving tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, sharers and margaritas, alongside a happily and extensively researched list of mezcal, tequila and Mexican beers.
From laid-back lunches and weeknight dinners to weekend brunches and late-night cocktails, El Pastor seeks to transport you out of the ordinary and into something altogether more vibrant. Battersea serves a lively Mexican brunch on weekends, while Mezcalería Colmillo, tucked beneath our Soho restaurant, brings a well-thumbed mezcal list, expertly crafted cocktails and Thursday-Saturday DJs until late.
We hope to share all this with you soon.
From the bustling energy of London Bridge to the riverside charm of Battersea, each El Pastor channels a different side of Mexico City’s spirit.
